Full disclosure: I no longer grow zucchini or summer squash. After years of battling squash bugs and squash vine borers, I finally raised the white flag and happily called it quits. It is possible to grow zucchini in Oklahoma, and I’ve done it, but IMHO it’s not worth the trouble. First year gardeners often have an advantage, as it may take the bugs a year or two to find you.
