Lonicera sempervirens

in 4″ re-used plastic pot

Scarlet and yellow flowers in whorled clusters are a showstopper on this vigorous, perennial vine. Give it a trellis, arbor or fence to grow on, or let it sprawl as a groundcover. Starts blooming in mid-spring, and blooms intermittently through the summer. Pruning is best done right after flowering. Attracts hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies, and birds will feed on the red berries in the fall.

Native to central and southeastern Oklahoma, and southern and eastern US. Not to be confused with non-native, invasive honeysuckles which can form dense thickets, outcompeting native plants and impacting wildlife. Medium moisture, well-drained soil. Full sun, will tolerate partial shade but flowers less. Grows 10-15’ in length.
