The state wildflower of Oklahoma! This is the native, annual variety, with showy red flowers tipped in yellow. Easy to grow and will happily reseed itself every year; just be sure to let the seeds fully mature before trimming back the stems. Attractive to butterflies & bees. Prefers full sun and lean, dry soil conditions. Drought tolerant once established, grows 1-2’ tall.

Rayless Gaillardia
(Gaillardia suavis)

I adore this unusual flower! Each stem has a single, petal-less bloom, like a pincushion. Flowers rise from a rosette of lance-shaped leaves and exude a light fragrance. Native only to Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas and northeastern Mexico. Drought tolerant, full to partial sun. Also known as Pincushion Flower or Perfumeballs
