Tridens flavus
Warm-season perennial bunchgrass with showy, purple seed heads in mid-summer to early fall. The seed heads are oily, hence its common name of grease grass. Larval host to many butterflies and moths, and seeds are eaten by birds. Full to partial sun, medium-dry to dry soil. Grows 3-5’ in height.
