Rue is a favored host plant for swallowtail butterfly caterpillars. The lacy blue-green leaves are attractive in the landscape, and are covered in small yellow flowers when it blooms. Short, bushy growth, leaves have a pungent aroma. Open pollinated, perennial, drought tolerant, full sun.

Note: some people react to the sap of rue plants and can get a rash from contact with it.
