(Silphium perfoliatum) – this plant can grow to 6′ in height, with sunflower-like yellow flowers. Each pair of leaves clasps the stem, forming a little cup that holds rainwater and attracts birds and insects that drink from it. Cup Plant can spread aggressively, so plant with care. Native to NE Oklahoma. Full to part sun, medium-wet to medium soil. Special thanks to Steve Davis for providing me with extra seedlings!
