...

(Buchloe dactyloides) – a finely textured, blue-green or gray-green grass often used as a native turf grass. Can be left unmowed at 4-6” tall, or mowed infrequently. Frequently combined with Blue Grama grass when used for lawns. One of the dominant grasses of the shortgrass prairie. Spreads by stolons.

Low maintenance, heat and drought tolerant, it won’t do well with frequent watering. Although slow to green up in the spring, it remains green during the hot, dry months of summer. Larval host to the green skipper butterfly. Full sun, medium to dry soil.
