Purple Poppymallow Callirhoe involucrata:

Also known as purple poppy mallow, this low-growing native perennial is easily recognized by its magenta, cup shaped flowers. Makes a good groundcover as each plant forms a low mound with stems spreading out to 3 feet. We’ve grown it on top of a rock wall and let it trail over the edge, for an eye-catching effect. Drought tolerant, summer blooming, full to partial sun.

Tall (Standing) Poppymallow (Callirhoe leiocarpa):

I planted this annual winecup last fall; it overwintered beautifully, then grew like mad in the spring and put on a dazzling display in May & June with tall, bushy plants showered in petite purple flowers. My favorite part was watching the native bees come and roll themselves in the ample pollen inside each flower – mesmerizing!
